Kaltex ramps up export efforts

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 10/1/2001 12:00:00 AM

Grupo Kaltex

Naucalpan, Mexico

Principal businesses: synthetic fibers, yarns, fabrics apparel

The 76-year-old Grupo Kaltex is a vertically integrated manufacturer of synthetic fibers, yarns, fabrics, apparel and home textile products.

The company exports to the United States, Canada, Europe and Central and South America.

Seven years after being founded as a textile converter, Kaltex established its first fabric factory, followed in 1956 by its first textile finishing plant, and then, in 1960, by its first spinning mill.

In 1985, one of Grupo Kaltex's divisions, Finacril, dedicated to manufacturing acrylic fibers, started operations. One year later, the company launched its exporting business. Yet home textiles did not become a major facet of Grupo Kaltex's business until 1994, when the company launched its Kaltex Home division.

For the past three years, it has been exporting product to the United States and Venezuela. In 2000, Kaltex Home reported annual sales of more than $2 million.
