Eye on New Categories, Surya Rugs Hires Snyder

Calhoun, Ga. —

India-based rug manufacturer Surya Rugs has named Shauna Snyder to the newly created post of vp of product development, as part of the company's expansion into more soft home categories. She reports to Satya Tiwari, president of the company.

Prior to joining Surya, Snyder was an accessories buyer at Art Van Furniture, a Michigan-based furniture retailer.

In her new post, she is responsible for product development of area rugs as well as coordinating new accessory product lines such as textiles and wall décor.

"Shauna's appointment to this newly created position represents a significant step forward in our commitment to take Surya Rugs to Surya Home," said Tiwari. "We are expanding our product line within home décor to provide a one stop shop for home accessories to our diversified client base."

Surya was founded in 1976 as a vertically integrated manufacturer; it opened the U.S. division in 1986 as an area rug supplier.
