Tweel acquires Riverdale

Newark, NJ — Looking to grow its presence at retail and expand its offerings to include decorative pillow and more fully coordinated product lines, table linens and kitchen textiles supplier Tweel Home Furnishings recently acquired domestic manufacturer Riverdale Decorative Products, based in Montgomery, AL.

Tweel, a family-owned company, acquired the name, inventory and assets of Riverdale from Alagold Corp., the owners of the more than 60-year-old company since 1981.

Don Tweel, president, told HTT that Tweel plans to relocate Riverdale’s manufacturing and inventory operations to its own warehousing site in Lakewood, NJ, and move the customer service, sales and accounting offices to the company’s headquarters here.

Riverdale Decorative Products will operates as a division of Tweel Home Furnishings. The change will be reflected in all products and labeling by January.
