Boca Raton, Fla. —
Basic bedding powerhouse Hollander Home Fashions has named its third annual Leo Award winner: Ricardo Canela, plant manager of the Bedford Park, Ill. facility.
Created to honor the late Hollander founder, Leo Hollander, the award "publicly honors and recognizes Hollander associates who exemplify the traits, values and beliefs Leo possessed: integrity, passion, vision, courage, honor, compassion, and commitment," the company said.
"Ricardo's consistent drive, dedication, and compassion for his colleagues have been an asset to Hollander for the past 23 years," said Jeff Hollander, ceo. "He is an outstanding example of the type of person that Leo himself would be proud to present with an award in his name."
Canela received an elephant-engraved crystal trophy along with a cash award. The elephant, Leo Hollander's favorite animal, is "fiercely competitive, yet compassionate, possessing a strong sense of family, symbolic of both peace and power, and highly respected, appreciated and loved," according to the company.
Martin Madrigal, a plant manager and a 20-year Hollander veteran, was recognized with the runner-up Leo Award.
