Glenoit Fabrics ready to rock

NEW YORK — Barely 10 months after its acquisition by a mainland Chinese textiles company, Glenoit Fabrics says it's a leaner and more responsive supplier.

A portion of the company was bought by Haixin Group International of Shanghai, China, last May, bringing new investment and increased purchasing power.

Since then the mill has built showrooms at both of its mills — Tarboro, NC, and Elmira, Ontario — to show apparel and home products. Also, laminating and hemming capabilities have been brought in-house, according to Joe Zeoli, national sales manager.

Glenoit Fabrics is a former division of Glenoit Corp.

Fast Times at Crypton Super

WEST BLOOMFIELD, MI — Craig Rubin, co-founder of Crypton Super Fabric, has been named to Fast Company magazine's third annual Fast 50, a list recognizing leaders, innovators, trend-setters and technology pioneers.

Rubin was named in the Change Agent category, described by Fast Company as "activists at every level who are determined to challenge the status quo and make a positive difference for the future."

Crypton, the brainchild of husband and wife team Craig and Randy Rubin, was developed nearly 10 years ago to challenge the status quo of performance fabrics. The patented fabric features stain and water resistance, anti-microbial properties and breathable comfort.

Already known in the health care and hospitality segments, Crypton recently has been introduced to the residential market.

Crypton is a product of Hi-Tex Corp., a privately held company dedicated to creating and promoting usable technological advancements in the textiles industry.
