Sears taps Dress Barn prez for soft lines vp

Hoffman Estates, IL — Sears has named Kathryn Bufano to the newly created post of executive vp, softlines, a role in which she will oversee brand development and sourcing for men's, women's and children's apparel, home fashions, footwear and jewelry.

Bufano most recently was president and chief merchandising officer for The Dress Barn. She also spent more than five years at Macy's East, ending as executive vp and gmm for women's apparel. Prior to that, she spent 17 years with Lord & Taylor in a variety of positions, most related to apparel.

The appointment becomes effective Jan. 1.
