Target picks core vendor partners to help build, manage its new e-commerce platform

Minneapolis -- Target has selected its core vendor partners to assist in building and managing the new www.Target.com e-commerce platform that the discount department store chain plans to launch in advance of the 2011 holiday selling season.
“We have already made considerable progress in our re-platforming work to transform the Target.com experience and create a strong foundation for further multi-channel integration,” said Steve Eastman, president, Target.com. “We are confident we have selected the right technology partners to ensure that the final design of our new online experience will exceed the high expectations our guests have of Target.com.”
Amazon will continue to provide the technology platform and fulfillment services for www.Target.com between now and the site re-launch.
The new partners include:
Sapient, which will serve as the lead partner and integrator;IBM, which will provide the multichannel e-commerce platform;Oracle, which will provide the database platform;Endeca, which will provide search and navigation functionality;Autonomy, which will provide content and digital asset-management functionality;Sterling Commerce, which will provide global inventory visibility and cross-channel order-management functionality; andHUGE, which will provide visual and interaction design.
In addition to those listed, Target will work with a portfolio of specialty vendors as well as its internal team to support the development and management of the new site.
