Bloomies' Gribetz to be honored by FIT

NEW YORK —
This year's sixth annual Scholarship Awards Breakfast held by the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) will honor Lester Gribetz, the home textiles veteran and icon who is currently vp of Bloomingdale's Home Furnishings Fashion Direction.
Gribetz will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for his career in the industry which spans several decades.
The breakfast will be held on April 15 from 7 a.m to 8:30 a.m. at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel here.
In addition to Gribetz, Mario Buatta, head of Mario Buatta Interior Design Inc., and David Chu, president and ceo of Nautica International Inc., will also receive awards. Buatta will receive the Pioneer in Home Design Award, while the Distinguished Alumnus Award will be presented to Chu.
The morning's ceremonies will also include a presentation of awards for a contest sponsored by Sears, Roebuck and Co. and the International Silver Corporation in which teams of students developed consumer product lines for the home furnishings industry. The winning team will share a scholarship award of $6,000.
Tickets for the event are $150 person or $1,500 for a table of 10.
