Pawtucket, R.I. – Braided area and accent rug manufacturer cmi (Colonial Mills Inc.) is moving into a 1,700-square-foot showroom – larger than its long-time former space – at the AmericasMart in time for this week’s Atlanta International Area Rug Market.
The new showroom is in neighboring spaces 6-E-1 and 6-E-2. The former space, 5-A-6, measures about 1,200 square feet.
“We were at our old space for a very long time, and this new space has turned out to be a good move for us and a better location,” said Lynn Minchello, marketing director.
The company said the theme of its new showroom is “simplicity.” The space features classic displays of cmi’s braided-texture rugs as well as large photo posters of room photography hanging on walls painted in solid colors.
One of the main displays will emphasize cmi’s new renaissance collection, which is entirely made of a new recycled Sunbrella-branded yarn from the Glen Raven Custom Fabric Renaissance Recycling program. The indoor-outdoor rectangular collection employs the fade and stain resistance and easy-cleaning characteristics from Sunbrella.
Three of cmi’s other recently unveiled braided-texture rug collections – ridgevale, shear natural and valencia -- are also prominently featured in the new showroom as well as the company's point-of-purchase displays such as the new, less expensive merchandising option Mini Sample Center.
The company is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new site at 6 p.m. Jan. 8.
