Federated board promotes Clark; lowers expectations

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 8/26/2002 2:02:00 PM

Cincinnati — David Clark has been elected to the newly created position of senior vp, human resources by Federated Department Stores.

Clark, who has served as a Federated vp since 1995, is responsible for corporate executive and organizational development, diversity and vendor development, training, selling services, compensation, retirement plans, group benefits and corporate facilities.

Both he and Michael Zorn, vp, employee relations, will continue reporting to Thomas Cody, executive vp, legal and human resources.

Clark has held several positions of increasing responsibility within Federated, including divisional vp for all distribution facilities at Lazarus; manager of employee relations at the Federated corporate office in Cincinnati; vp, human resources at the company's former MainStreet division in Chicago; and senior vp, human resources and corporate training at Lazarus.

In other news, the retail chain is anticipating a wider-than-expected decline in August same-store sales despite sales during the third week of the month that were "a little bit stronger."

Its Macy's and Bloomingdale's chains said comps likely will slide more than the 1 percent to 3 percent previously forecast.
