Material World Will Have Large Program

Exhibits Encourage Education, Networking

Material World New York, an official event of the American Apparel & Footwear Association taking place at the Javits Center in New York from Sept. 28 to 30, will feature a roster of educational programs, exhibits and networking events.

Kicking off the program is an event on Sept. 28 from 8:30 to 10 a.m., sponsored by AAFA. “The Next Frontier in Fabric, Fiber and Thread” will bring together a panel of industry leaders from fabric, fiber and thread companies with global operations, including American & Efird, Fountain Set, Invista Apparel and Sapphire Textile Mills USA.

Admission is $50 in advance or $75 on-site. Attendees interested in attending the paid programs following, should pre-register online at www.material-world.com. There is no pre-registration required for free programs and admission will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Seminars on the program for Sept. 29 include: “New & Different Ways to Finance International Transactions” from 8:30 to 10 a.m., which focuses on such topics as how to release trapped days in inventory related to importing and how to streamline the supply chain to increase working capital. Admission is $50 in advance or $75 on-site.

From 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Cotton Incorporated is presenting “A Collection of Colors and Fabrics for the Home in 2007” with trend forecaster Dana Poor, head of Cotton Incorporated's home trend forecasting team in New York.

From 2 to 3 p.m., Pantone is offering its free: “Pantone View Winter 2006/2007-Art and Science” with Tod Schulman, vice president, fashion and home, which will explore the nine ranges of color for Winter 2006/2007.

On Sept. 30, AAFA is presenting “Do's and Don'ts in the New Trade Era” from 8:30 to 10 a.m., with Stephen Lamar, vice president of AAFA; and Thomas Travis, managing director of Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg. Admission is $50 in advance or $75 on-site.
