Seattle —
Down and down alternative bedding producer Pacific Coast Feather Company has recently completed the purchase of a production and distribution facility in Henderson, N.C.
The acquisition of the 500,000 square foot manufacturing and distribution facility allows the company to consolidate its Henderson operations from three buildings down to one larger location. With a target start-up date for the new facility of August 1, PCFC will gain an additional 130,000 square feet of space.
"Consolidating our Henderson operations into one facility enables us to realize significant cost savings along with operating efficiencies," said Eric Moen, president and ceo.
It also positions PCFC for future growth and improved productivity in the manufacture and distribution of natural and synthetic fill pillows, comforters, featherbeds and fiber beds. The company's 275 employees in Henderson will all transition to the new facility this summer.
The company made the purchase without tapping any external financing, according to Moen. Despite the recession, PCFC feels it is in a position to invest in the future, he said.
Pacific Coast Feather Company also operates manufacturing and distribution facilities in Kent and Marysville, Wash.; Maquoketa, Iowa; Lebanon, Pa.; Pico Rivera, Calif.; Wayne, Neb.; and Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
