N.Y. IFDA to host seminar on how to use social network media sites

New York -- The New York Chapter of The International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA) will host a program later this month to counsel home furnishings companies on ways to successfully engage social media sites to promote a company an its brand.
The one-hour presentation is scheduled from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at the offices of Gibbs & Soell Inc. Public Relations in the Lincoln Building, 60 East 42nd St. Seating starts at 4:15 p.m., and after the event cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The presentation will focus on ways that home furnishings professionals can communicate with potential customers. Steve Halsey, a vp at Gibbs & Soell PR and head of the agency’s digital media effort, will discuss digital strategies and ways to manage the day-to-day components that become part of an integrated PR program. Susan Serra, the principal of Susan Serra Associates, award-winning designer and the author of the blog "thekitchendesigner.org," will give examples of what works in building an online identity through social media sites.
The program will be moderated by Audra Hession, vp, Gibbs & Soell Inc. and group head of the Consumer Lifestyle and Building Solutions practice.
There is limited space, and reservations are required. The deadline is Nov. 12. The cost is $25 for IFDA members, $40 for their guests, $15 for student members, and $20 for their guests.
