Schlang says 'business as usual' for Induter USA

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 2/4/2002 12:00:00 AM

Although Charlie Schlang is now formally tied to Renaissance America and Haywin Textile Products, his original company, Induter USA, will continue to operate as it has, "at least for the near future," Schlang said.

Schlang is president of Induter USA and its spin-off Atrivm, which formally owns the home textiles license and manufactures products for the popular men's clothing designer Joseph Abboud. Davidson Cotton had been sub-licensed for the bath portion of the license, but it had been withdrawn when Schlang and Davidson amicably parted company late last year.

For the near future, Schlang said "nothing had changed" and that Induter would continue as it had in the past. As time passes however, Schlang told Home Textiles Today he was hoping to transition the business to a distributorship similar to the way Davidson had operated. But in the meantime, "Everything was going forward with Abboud," and product lines will be shown. In fact, Induter's collection and the Abboud line will be shown at the upcoming spring market in the showroom space originally maintained by Davidson. Davidson will vacate the premises by Feb. 15, Schlang said, and is currently seeking space elsewhere.
