At the New York Market – Maples Rugs is aggressively pursuing its ongoing environmentally friendly initiatives with the expansion of its PET recycled fiber rug collection into new colorways and styles.
The program includes accent- and area-size shags as well as kitchen slices and mats that are constructed using Beaulieu of America’s “Soft Green Smart” rug fiber, which is made of post-consumer recycled beverage bottles.
Maples rugs offered a breakdown of how many recycled plastic beverage bottles are used to make each size. For example, 420 bottles are used to make a 5-by-8, 250 for a 4-by-6, 100 for a 30-by-46, 50 for a 20-by-36 and 175 for a 2-foot-1-inch-by-2-foot-8-inch runner.
To its kitchen line, which was launched last market with 12 solid-colored looks, Maples Rugs has added five new multi-colored designs. And to its shag offerings in scatter and area rugs sizes, there are now more than six multi-colored looks being added to the anchor assortment of 12 solids.
“We’re taking the solid-colored fibers and combining them to make these new multi-colored rugs,” said Wade Maples, co-owner. “We can make all kinds of color combinations.” He means Maples Rugs has the ability to combine any and all of the existing colors for a wide variety of looks. Among the new offerings is Rag Time, featuring a spectrum of bright colors.
The current paletted includes cinnamon, chococlate, mocha, wheat, moss, celery, ebony, wineberry, sky and others.
Pricing for these “Soft Green Smart Fiber”-branded rugs mirrors Maples Rugs regualr assortment -- $19.99 for a kitchen slice, $39.99 for a 30-by-50 and $79.99 for a 5-by-8.
