Top Marketer Named at Himatsingka

Hassan, India — Pradeep Mukherjee has been hired as president, global marketing by Himatsingka Linens, a division of Himatsingka Seide Ltd., a major manufacturer and exporter of silk products out of India.

Earlier, Mukherjee spent 23 years at Bombay Dyeing, finishing there as vp of exports. More recently, he assisted BKS Fine Linens of India in its effort to build out home textiles production.

The company's product range is in furnishings, upholstery, and bridal wear fabrics made out of silk, linen, and very fine cotton. This year, Himatsingka Linens invested about US $80 million to set up a new bed linen plant to produce sheet sets and duvet sets that Mukherjee asserted are “comparable to top-of-line Italian products.”

The company's senior team will visit the United States this month and Himatsingka Linens plans to exhibit at Heimtextil in January 2007.
