NEW YORK —
The Voridian division of Eastman Chemical Co. will increase prices of acetate yarn products effective January 2004.
The Kingsport, TN-based company will raise process globally in a range from five cents a pound to 50 cents a pound.
Celanese Acetate, the world's largest producer of acetate "is studying the situation," according to Keith Nagy, director of filament.
He added that "cellulose fiber producers are facing a 10 to 12 percent increase in wood pulp prices, the raw material for acetate, as a result of International Paper's decision to exit this segment of the market."
