New York City Mayor Bloomberg declares Home Textiles Week

-- Home Textiles Today, 12/23/2009 10:32:00 AM

White Plains, N.Y. -- New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg has issued an official mayoral proclamation declaring “Home Textiles Market Week” in connection with the event by the same name from Jan. 29 to Feb. 4 and again from Aug. 13 to 19, 2010.

The bi-annual market comprises mid- to high-end home textiles suppliers who produced new products each winter and summer for debut at the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF), which takes place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and the Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94 as well as in suppliers’ showrooms at 230 Fifth Avenue and 7 West 34th Street.

“We’re delighted with this official recognition of Home Textiles Market Week as a robust driver of economic benefit – to both New York City and to the home fashions industry,” said Dorothy Belshaw, director of NYIGF and svp of GLM, the fair’s organizer. “With comprehensive product offerings, educational programming and after-hours events, the market is a great boon to the industry, and to the economic vitality of the City.”
