Robert Hammer, 88, passes away

Rochester Hills, Mich. – Industry veteran Robert Hammer died here in the company of his family on Nov. 7. He was 88.
Hammer had a 47-year career with the J.L. Hudson Co. in Detroit (later part of Dayton Hudson Corp.), primarily as a senior buyer for the Home Store. He was respected throughout the industry for his work ethic, business principles and sense of fairness.
His is survived by his wife, Eleanor Frances Schmidt, as well as eight children, 23 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Son Daniel Hammer also spent many years of his career in the home business.
