Schedule Announced for 2005 New York Home Textiles Show

New York — The New York Home Textiles Show has announced its conference program for the spring show. All sessions will take place at the Jacob Javits Center.
“Attitudes & Influences: Lifestyle Trends for 2006” will take place April 8 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Britt Bivens of international trend research firm Promostyl will discuss the lifestyles, colors, textures and fabrics that will be important in 2006.
A New Buyer Orientation will take place April 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. It will be led by Gracelyn Monaco, New York Home Textiles Show manager, and Gracelyn Monaco, Ex-Tracts show manager.
A “Snapshot of New York” retail tour will depart from the Javits Center April 9 at 11:30 a.m., returning at 4:30 p.m. The tour will include a boxed lunch.
The seminar “Secrets to Success: Importing With a Customs Broker” will also take place April 9, from 1:30 p.m to 3:30 p.m. The in-depth session is gearing toward those who are new to importing and will cover how to determine the need for a broker, how to select a broker, how to address conflicts with a broker and brokers' fees. It will be presented by Bill Everson, Everson CHB, and PACE University's World Trade Institute.
A second session addressing free trade issues, “Importing: Ten Legal Issues Every Retailer Should Know,” will take place April 11 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This seminar will incorporate a case study using a home fashion product to illustrate these issues. It will be conducted by Bob Leo, Esq., Meeks and Sheppard.
