Concord consolidates staff

NEW YORK —
As part of a streamlining of the company, Concord Home has reduced its staff, including its converter and design director.
Earl Kramer, president of parent company Concord Fabrics, said, "There is no credibility to any conversation that we are planning to close Concord Home."
He added, "It is absolutely without question that we will continue our home business. Since Sept. 11, all parts of our business haven't been happening."
Companywide, Kramer said, "business has not been terrific — and in Concord Home, less than we hoped for at this point. Sales have not hit plan."
As a result, he said, "We had to take the next step to get expenses in line with sales. If sales improve, we will have a really profitable business in home. If sales stay the same, we will still be profitable."
Among those no longer with the company are Russ Poletto, converter, and Jeanie Viars, design director.
Roger Burnim continues as vp, Concord Home.
