Marimekko marks young, funky 50

NEW YORK —

Bard College hosted an exhibition and celebration of more than 50 years of Marimekko, the Finnish contemporary design firm.

The exhibition at the college's Graduate Center for Studies in the Decorative Arts, Design and Culture, was launched with a reception attended by Marimekko's owner since 1991 — Kirsti Paakanen, and members of the company's design team. Signature fabrics and clothing from its history were on display.
