New York — In a dramatic and most unusual move for a retailer, Target mounted a showcase here last week with its five home lifestyle statements set in a series of prefab buildings designed as homes.
The presentation, open to the public for four days concurrent with the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, also was the unofficial launch of the Thomas O'Brien Vintage Modern home collection that tops out the retailer's contemporary statement. O'Brien hits the stores in the fall.
The venue featured five individual prefabs showcasing each lifestyle, set above ground on a level platform with faux grass, mailboxes at the door of each lifestyle holding the recent dot.com home catalog, and a brochure with the list of area Targets.
A key part of the presentation was the presence of the Target mascot dog, complete with his Target eye patch, who posed quietly for lines of locals that had their pictures taken with him —the photographer was supplied by Target.
We would love your feedback!
