New York — The new licensing tradeshow planned to launch in New York City next April will not take place, its organizer said today.
In an email circulating among potential exhibitors, show director Linda Cohen said that the inaugural THE Licensing Event planned for April 20-22, 2010, has been postponed until market conditions improve.
“It has become clear that as a result of the terrible economic conditions over the last year, an event in 2010 will not work for many of you or for the retailing community,” Cohen said. “We have decided in the best interest of the industry to postpone THE Licensing Event, until the effects of the current recession have definitively started to lift.
Cohen’s event was programmed in response to the licensing industry’s primary trade event, Licensing International Expo, having moved to Las Vegas starting with its June 2009 edition.
