Anderson, S.C. -- Glen Raven’s manufacturing center here has earned an internationally recognized certification for environmental excellence -- ISO 14001:2004, a measure of environmental management system standards.
“ISO 14001 certification demonstrates our long-term commitment to providing exceptional products and services while recognizing the environmental responsibilities of our operation,” said facility manager Jack Woodson.
The certification covers the plant's environmental procedures, processes and planning activities, as well as continual improvement programs in environmental management. The process involved all Glen Raven associates in Anderson who are trained in environmental standards and procedures.
Based in Geneva, Switzerland, ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world's largest developer and publisher of international standards. It is perhaps best known for its ISO-9001 standards for quality processes, which the Anderson plant has also achieved. ISO 14001:2004 was created to provide a framework for a holistic, strategic approach to an organization's environmental policies. It is applicable to any organization in implementing an environmental management system.
Glen Raven’s 1 million square foot Anderson facility began operations in 1995 and later incorporate a 20-year recycling program that culminated in the elimination of all wastes going to landfills during 2008. The vertically integrated center produces Sunbrella performance fabrics.
