Lynnens, Too lowers bar in new unit

GREENWICH, CT —
Prodded by years of effective summer sales events and the opportunity of tapping into an underserved market, Lynne Jenkins will open her second location here Oct. 1, called Lynnens, Too.
Though her original Lynnens store across the street has been serving the upper-end market for more than two decades now, the new store will offer more moderately priced bed, bath and table product, as well as clearance items from the main store.
Jenkins has held summer clearance sales in empty storefronts for about 15 years now, she said, and the sales have always been well-received. "Every time I closed it — I would miss it," she said.
Greenwich also currently lacks stores where residents can purchase such items as plastic shower curtains and laminated place mats, she said, requiring them to travel miles to find them. However, Jenkins recently had the opportunity to rent a store across the street — "it's the same size for one-third the rent" — and she jumped at the chance.
The new store, at 2,000 square feet, also evokes a more casual feeling, with a black wrought-iron fence adorning the storefront.
Now, along with those plastic shower curtains and place mats, Lynnens, Too will offer value-added merchandise while maintaining quality. For example, Jenkins worked with an Italian mill for an exclusive line of 280-count poly/cotton double hem-stitched sheets for the new store. Heritage towels from Sybarite will be her thickest towel offered at half the price of her regular towels, she added.
The new store will offer product lines that didn't fit the original store concept. Drulane's laminated table and bath products, for example, are ideal for the new store, she said. Legacy fabric covered boxes took up too much space in her other store, she added, but will make sense in Lynnens, Too.
In addition, one-quarter to one-third of the new space will be devoted to the product line of Pine Cone Hill, complete in its own boutique.
