WestPoint closing towel plant

New York - - WestPoint Home will close the Scotland plant, a terry towel-weaving facility located in Wagram, N.C., in September.
About 370 employees will be affected, the company said. The Scotland plant is adjacent to the Bob Stevens complex, which provides finishing, fabricating and distribution functions.
"This is a necessary step as we continue to streamline our domestic manufacturing base in conjunction with the expansion of our manufacturing capabilities overseas," said senior vp manufacturing John Hurston.
The company continues to produce towels elsewhere in the United States, at the Bob Stevens Finishing, Fabricating and Distribution facilities in Wagram, N.C., as well as the Lanier and Carter weaving plants and Fairfax Finishing, Fabricating and Distribution facilities, all in Valley, Ala.
