Hellenic Teams With Mackie for Rug Collections

Atlanta — Hellenic Rug Imports Inc. and fashion and costume designer Bob Mackie have joined forces to create a new collection of hand-tufted and hand-knotted rugs set to debut in January at the International Area Rug Show here.

The 40-piece collection includes wool and wool with silk highlights varieties set to retail for $349 to $1,199 for a 6-by-9.

Said Marc Schwartz, chief operating officer, Bob Mackie Design Group Ltd., “We decided to partner with Hellenic because they could translate Bob's designs into wonderful, beautifully detailed rugs.”

Bob Mackie designs are also licensed in other home goods categories, including lighting and a new upholstery collection set to launch in April at the High Point market. The brand previously licensed its designs for area rugs to Oriental Weavers.

Hellenic and Mackie will host a launch party for the line at 5 p.m. Jan. 20 at the rug company's AmericasMart showroom, 6-G-12.
