American Textile opens new HQ/DC

DUQUESNE, PA —

American Textile Co. a manufacturer of private-label mattress and pillow protectors founded by the Ruttenberg family in 1925, has opened its 107,000-square foot headquarters and distribution center here in the Pittsburgh area.

"We ran out of space in the old location," said Jack Ouellette, president and ceo. "We needed to touch the future, and this new facility is completely state-of-the-art and efficient." Previously split into two locations in nearby Lawrenceville, all functions are together, with the option to expand.

Besides mattress and pillow protectors, decorative comforter covers and featherbed covers, the company also produces allergen barrier protective bedding, its biggest growing category for the past five years, under the Aller-Ease label, Ouellette added.
