Scalamandre offers artifacts, fabrics, surprises for sale

Ronkonkoma, N.Y. – Fine silk and fabric house and historic restoration company Scalamandre is mounting a “Scalamandre in the City” sale to offer a range of archival fabrics and artifacts as its moves its Manhattan offices.
“An inevitable aspect of our business is over-production,” said Bob Bitter, Scalamandre president. “Eventually our storage and archives become full. So while we are relocating our Third Avenue office, we thought our wonderful customers would enjoy some fun and some bargains, while we reclaim much-needed warehouse space at the same time.”
Items going on the block include original art, antique Italian vestments and woven “documents” that have been used in Scalamandre’s design studios, said Jill Wilson, principal of LLD Specialty Sales, the firm organizing the sale.
Shopping at 943 Third Ave. will be start Thursday, June 21 and be open to the public Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. until the stock is exhausted. The company said that may take through the end of July.
