Manchester, England —
The designs of Sir Terence Conran are headed back to the U.S. market through European supplier Dawson Home Group (DHG).
Bed by Conran has launched at Target.com. Produced on cotton percale, the collection includes five contemporary bed designs as well as accessories pieces. Retails on most of the duvets range from $99.99 to $149.99.
DHG describes the Bed by Conran design approach as “a playful take on classic white bedding with a mix of woven, printed, appliquéd and embroidered detailing.”
This is just the beginning for $45 million DHG, which produces private label and branded goods for Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, House of Fraser and Harrods as well as independent luxury retailers in the UK. In the coming months DHG intends to broaden its US range beyond Bed by Conran to include several of its other European offerings.
“As we looked at the market we realized that we could offer American customers something new and distinctive; that products reflecting our European design sensibility at reasonable prices were missing from the market. The initial response we have received from US retailers has borne this out,” said Dawson ceo Andy Bartmess.
DHG previously operated as Dorma, an English bedding company founded in 1838. In 2008, the Dorma trademark was sold to and the company changed its name to Dawson Home Group. DHG brands in addition to Bed By Conran include Horrockses (1791) and Vantona (1921).
