Albany, N.Y. —
Known more for its down alternative fills, PrimaLoft has introduced PrimaLoft Cotton Blend, a luxury yarn developed for blankets and home accessories.
"Since last year's introduction of PrimaLoft yarn, we've been developing new yarns with different blends," said Ronald Comer, director of international sales, PrimaLoft Yarn Division.
PrimaLoft Cotton Blend is a mix of 50% PrimaLoft microfiber and 50% cotton; the combination, said Comer, enabled the company "to create a luxurious yarn that provides softness, comfort and durability."
PrimaLoft is made from ultra-fine fibers that are softer and finer than silk. When added to cotton, these fibers enhance the feel of the yarn and give it a luxurious sheen. It also makes for an easy-care fabric, machine-washable and –dryable, drying faster than 100% cotton goods.
The new yarn has been adopted by WestPoint Home for use in manufacturing blankets, said PrimaLoft, which is a division of Albany International Corp.
