NEW YORK —
Indian area rug importer Obeetee Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of India-based area rug manufacturer Obeetee Ltd., earlier this month appointed Bill Ward to its newly created position of ceo.
Company president Pradeep Argarwal, who formerly held ceo responsibilities for the company, told HTT he decided to hire Ward to help in the company's latest effort to "expand our product offerings, enhance design and improved the quality of our goods."
Ward, who has 15 years experience working in the Oriental rug industry, most recently was vp of upscale home furnishings retailer ABC Carpet & Home.
In his new post, Ward will report to the company's board of directors.
Obeetee Ltd., from which Obeetee imports its rugs, is based in the city of Mirzapur in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. Obeetee Inc. maintains sales offices in New York.
Established in the 1920s, Obeetee owns and operates an India rug manufacturing facility in Mirzapur and exports rugs to the United States and Canada.
