WHITE PLAINS, NY —
Sources, a new trade show for volume-buying retailers, wholesalers and importers, will go ahead as planned May 17 to 20 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York, according to show organizer George Little Management.
"We've had 10 or 15 visa rejections [among exhibitors], but none can be traced to SARS," said Tony Lee, vp sales and marketing, GLM. "Exhibitors are still in the 400 range. I think we're still in the ballpark for 3,000 to 4,000 attendees."
GLM has released the names of some prominent home furnishings companies that have registered to attend to the show. Retailers include Bed Bath & Beyond, Pier 1, Value City and Fishs Eddy. Home textiles producers include WestPoint Stevens, Dan River, Pillowtex and Cecil Saydah Company.
Exhibitors from 29 countries include larger producers as well as craftspeople, encompassing soft home, hard home, gifts and some stationery products. Three-quarters of the exhibitors hail from from India, China or Taiwan. The remainder come from South America and Eastern Europe.
