CONSHOHOCKEN, PA —
Area rug importer Tinnin Oriental, based here, recently forged a licensing partnership with the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association to produce a collection of high-end 100 percent wool machine-made rugs featuring traditional and transitional designs inspired by President George Washington and his Mount Vernon, Va, home.
The collection will be officially introduced in October at the upcoming market at High Point. It will be comprised of five designs, of which two feature the traditional Saruk and Oushak patterns that are Persian and Turkish, respectively. The other three will be more transitional in appearance, with floral patterns, and one piece inspired by a carpet Washington had custom made for his home in Philadelphia in 1791 during his presidency.
Feizy Import & Export, based in Dallas, most recently was the licensee for Mount Vernon but declined to renew the contract earlier this year as part of Feizy's recent initiative to reduce and eventually eliminate its licensed programs.
"We are very excited, largely because of the American history aspect of it and also because the American consumer likes it — more than a million people go to Mount Vernon each year," said Dean Jerrehian, president, Tinnin Oriental.
Price points start at $495 for a 6" x 9". The collection will target independent rug and carpet retailers and specialty stores.
For its launch, the Mount Vernon rug line will be available in three sizes — 4" x 6", 6" x 9" and 9" x 12" — with more sizes expected to follow.
"For the next show coming up in Atlanta, we'll be adding to the Mount Vernon line continuously," Jerrehian said.
We would love your feedback!
