New York —
Services were held here December 13 for Alvin L. Levine who died Dec. 9.
Levine, 92, was a legendary member of the home textiles industry, a long-time executive in the basic bedding segment at Perfect Fit Inds., and after retirement an acerbic observer of the industry as a whole.
His letters to the editor appearing in HTT over the years were filled with suggestions for retailers and suppliers. A sample from 2001: "Manufacturers make items that appeal to tens of millions of customers, but they keep it a secret. Ads should be run for the benefit of the dumbest person reading the ad, and that goes for packaging as well. People do not read the small print on packages."
Survivors include his son James, daughter, Linda, three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
We would love your feedback!
