Pacific Coast Feather unveils new technology

By Michele SanFilippo -- Home Textiles Today, 4/26/2004 12:00:00 AM

Pacific Coast Feather recently rolled out a line of 300-count products with AllerRest, a special weave developed to block dust mites and allergens.

Items with AllerRest include an oversized bafflebox down comforter, a down blanket with 18 ounces of fill and three pillows — a children's size in feather and down, and two adult size pillows in down or feather and down.

In addition, the company now has products using the corn-generated Ingeo fabric. It is offering two kinds of pillows (cluster or garneted), a comforter and an Ingeo fleece mattress topper as an alternative to wool fleece because of its wicking properties. "We've improved the value across the whole line by increasing thread counts or lowering price in some instances," added Fritz Kruger, vice president of marketing at Pacific Coast Feather.

Another introduction is the Bed Spa — a combination of a down-filled featherbed cover with a three-sided zipper and a gusseted baffled channel featherbed that is packaged together to offer a one-stop shopping concept. The item retails for $179.99.

According to company executives, the Dockers Home license — which has also been expanded — has received placements across all channels of retail. Additions include a 300-count white-on-white Dockers tick on pillows of premium down, Extra Loft feather and down pillows, and feather and down comforters.

There is also a double-filled Euro Topper with vertical channels and four anchor bands that features the printed tick plus Stain Defender. An opening price point cotton mattress pad with 4.5 ounces of fill to fit 16-inch mattresses was also added.

A line of solid down blankets in six colors was recently introduced along with a multi-colored stripe. The blankets have 525 ounces of fill, a three-inch satin binding and come in white, shell pink, ice blue, butter, khaki and celery. The striped version will also be offered as a down throw.
