Hill resigns from Mohawk

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 6/10/2002 12:00:00 AM

Longtime Mohawk Home executive Larry Hill resigned last week from his post as vp of national sales.

Hill, who has spent the past nine years with the company, said he wants to spend more time with his family.

"He's a great guy, a great friend, and we will miss him," Bill Kilbride, president, told HTT, "but he lives near here, right in Calhoun, and we intend on staying close to him. We understand this was a personal move for him."

Hill originally joined Mohawk in 1993 when the company bought the first of two textile companies of which Hill was a founding principal — first, American Rug Craftsman and then later, in 1996, American Weavers.

Aside from being a founder, Hill served as director of sales operations for both of those companies. He held his most recent post at Mohawk for the past three years, reporting directly to Kilbride.

Hill's resignation comes on the heels of a recent staff restructuring at Mohawk. Kilbride told HTT that he intends to replace Hill, but only after conducting a thorough search both in house and outside Mohawk.

"It's an important position, and we want to explore all the possibilities carefully and make sure we pick the right person," Kilbride said.
