Terrisol taps WPS vp to run U.S. office

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 4/28/2003 2:15:00 PM

New York — Bath towel, beach towel and table linens supplier Terrisol Corp., the U.S. subsidiary of Brazilian-based Karsten, appointed longtime industry player John Cafaro as its chief marketing officer. It is a new position formed as part of the company's recent restructuring effort to expand its U.S. marketing and sales operations.

Cafaro replaces J.R. Schmitt, who came in as interim coo and vp of Terrisol soon after Eric Vergucht resigned from his post as exec vp and general manager in November.

Schmitt had spent the past 15 years working for Karsten, most recently as the company's export manager handling all international accounts. He will now return to his former post with Karsten in Brazil.

Cafaro will assume Vergucht's former responsibilities, but with a larger emphasis on marketing and sales.

Cafaro's previous experience includes 16 years at WestPoint Stevens in several capacities. Most recently he was vp of sales for Kmart, Sears and regional mass retailers, bed and bath division. Prior to that he was WestPoint's vp of international business development. He reports directly to Joao Karsten Neto, vp, Karsten.
