Technical textiles show slated for May

COMO, ITALY — The second edition of BITEC, the exhibition for technical textiles, will be held here at Villa Erba in Cernobbio from May 22 to May 24.

The exhibition will showcase technical textiles in 10 categories including home furnishings for carpeting, curtains, fabrics, mattress covers and shower curtains. Properties will include antibacterial, anti-mite, flame-proof, dirt-proof, anti-UV and intelligent textiles that can interact with the environment .

Cranston promotes Sullivan

CRANSTON, RI — Melissa Sullivan has been promoted to assistant stylist at Cranston Consumer Products Rhode Island Studio, a division of Cranston Print Works.

Sullivan, who joined the company in 1996 as an artist/designer, reports to Diane Hunt, design director for Cranston Consumer Products.

Sullivan named vp, sales

NEW YORK — Daniel Sullivan has been promoted to vp, sales at Stroheim & Romann, based here.

Sullivan, who had been one of the company's national sales managers, continues to report to Julian Grauer, Stroheim's president. He will oversee sales for Stroheim as well as the JAB and Chivasso collections that the company distributes.

Scoperta exhibitors signing up

HERTFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND — More than 80 decorative fabric companies have signed on as exhibitors at Scoperta, which will be held from May 7 to May 10.

The show, now in its fourth edition, will be moved to Il Palapenz, Chiasso, Switzerland from its previous location in Mendrisio. Shuttle buses will transport visitors from Scoperta to Proposte, which is held from May 8 to May 10 in Como, Italy.

This year's exhibitor roster is nearly 10 percent higher than 2001, and Trade Link Co., organizer of the show, expected the final list to exceed 20 percent more than last year.
