Target to extend store hours in weather-plagued regions

-- Home Textiles Today, 12/21/2009 12:18:00 PM

Minneapolis – Target said it is now planning on extending its holiday hours this week before Christmas to accommodate shoppers in regions affected by heavy snow storms.

Some of the Target units that will keep their doors opened later this week include all stores in Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia, New Jersey, Delaware, Connecticut, and Rhode Island as well as many stores in Pennsylvania, New York and Massachusetts.

The new hours are 7 a.m. to midnight from today through Dec. 23rd.

“We understand that the shopping plans for many of our guests in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast during this weekend before Christmas were affected by the severe storm,” said Troy Risch, evp. “To give these guests more opportunity to make all their holiday purchases, the majority of our stores in hard hit areas will open one hour earlier than originally planned and remain open until midnight.”

As previously announced, all stores nationwide will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Dec. 26 for post-holiday bargain hunters.
