New York-- ABC Carpet vice chairman Graham Head joined Classic Rug Collection president Barbara Barran last night to celebrate the opening of the Gee’s Bend rug assortment exclusive to ABC.
Barran has worked on licensing for several years with the rural African-American women known as the Gee’s Bend Quilters Collective, celebrated for their historic quilting tradition.
The ABC rugs are sourced from Turkey where, true to the Gee’s Bend ethos, already-used scraps of material were gathered and made into the rugs that are either copies of or inspired-by versions of the Alabama women’s quilts.
