Concord, N.H. —
Walter Chapin, co-founder and president of Company C, was recently named to the GoodWeave standards committee, a panel of industry leaders formed to eliminate illegal child labor in the handmade rug industry.
As a member of the standards committee, Chapin will work with child rights, worker rights and environmental experts, carpet manufacturers/exporters, importers and retailers to develop a new draft standard.
In addition to working toward its mission of bringing the incidence of child labor down to zero, GoodWeave will also work toward the environmental, humanitarian, and transparency criteria proposed for the new standard and will aim to raise the standard of living in weaving communities and alleviate poverty—a root cause of child labor.
We would love your feedback!
