Delmont, Pa. —
Judy Altmeyer, a vital member of the second generation ownership of Altmeyer Home Stores, passed away recently.
The Pittsburgh-area company was founded in 1941 by George Altmeyer, whose son Rod took the reins decades ago. "When Judy and I were married, she was a secretary, and I thought that was nice," said Rod Altmeyer, now president. "Two weeks later, she asked to join the family business."
Judy Altmeyer supervised the personnel side of the company as it grew into a 12-unit specialty store chain with a merchandise mix of home textiles and home décor products. The business is well into the third generation, as Rod and Judy's sons, Rod Jr. and Robert, are both integral to day-to-day operations.
The family has recommended that in memory of Judy Altmeyer, donations may be made to the statue fund at Mother of Sorrows Church, 4200 Old William Penn Hwy, Murrysville, Pa. 15668.
