Biddeford names vp, sales and marketing

Biddeford, ME — Joining Biddeford Blankets as vice president of sales and marketing is Robert Van Jones, a senior executive with more than 30 years experience in textiles and retailing.

The top sales slot had been vacant since the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection from its creditors in March 2001.

Jones comes to Biddeford from Homecovers Inc., where he had been vp of sales and marketing. He had earlier worked as vp of American Textile Co. and as national and international sales manager for Stylette, a division of Also Industries.

"Van brings a thorough understanding of the retail industry," said Morten Brunvoll, ceo of Microlife Corp., Biddeford's new parent. "He complements our executive team as we extend our product line beyond automatic warming blankets to include heated mattress pads and heating pads."
