Dec. Fabrics Veteran Hazen Retires

Al Hazen, veteran decorative fabrics executive, is retiring after 57 years in the industry.

Hazen began his career in 1948 with Golding, starting as a file clerk and moving quickly to salesman and designer. He left Golding in 1963 and worked with a number of companies as designer and salesman: Qual Fab, Richloom, Bloomcraft, A.W. Scheffres, Tilbury and Everfast.

He joined Swavelle/Mill Creek in 1979 in its then Piermont Mills division where he developed the mini-print collection that Jeff Thomases, company CEO calls “a powerful category for the company.” In his last years at Swavelle/Mill Creek, he has handled significant accounts including J.C. Penney, Robert Allen, Carole Fabrics, and Pindler & Pindler.

Saying that “Al will always be part of our family,” Thomases added “his contributions to our company were significant.”
