Bedford Cottage Acquires Kennebunk Home

Manchester, N.H. —

Bedford Cottage reported it has completed its acquisition of the Kennebunk Home decorative throw business from Perfect Fit Industries, bringing together two of the leading decorative throw brands.

The merger of Bedford Cottage and Kennebunk Home also marks the return of Richard Sherman as president and ceo of Kennebunk. He previously held that position from 1997 until 2004, and was the second generation of his family to own and operate Kennebunk prior to its sale to Perfect Fit in 1998. Sherman left Kennebunk in 2004 and founded Bedford Cottage late that same year.

Sherman intends to continue marketing both Bedford Cottage and Kennebunk Home as separate brands. There is some retail overlap between the two. Customers include: Dillard's, Coldwater Creek, Fortunoff, Anthropologie, and Bed Bath & Beyond.

The merged operations will be renting space at Perfect Fit's Suncook, N.H. facility. Perfect Fit will continue to own and operate Kennebunk's yarn operation.
