New York —
Home Fashions International has expanded and revamped its soft window treatment business and made two hires to accelerate its efforts in the category.
Veteran window coverings executive Alan Botwinick has joined Home Fashions International as sales manager, windows, a new position.
In his new position, Botwinick will oversee product development and sales for the window division. He formerly was sales manager for National Curtain, and earlier was with CHF Industries and Home Innovations.
He reports to Amy Bell, executive vp of HFI.
Jane Raab, formerly senior buyer of texiles of now-defunct Fortunoff, has been appointed design director for HFI's window division.
She also reports to Bell, who described Raab as having "a passion for the product with a head for the business."
Raab joined HFI in early July and immediately began working on "revamping, re-coloring and redesigning" HFI's smaller existing line. "We pretty much took it to pieces, with the exception of a few existing fabrics that we redid," she explained.
During the recent market week in New York, HFI showed more than 60 skus of valances, drapes and collections for both regular and kitchen use.
Bell described the collection as "a ready-made line with a custom-made feel" with "many layers of product, which provides for multiple sku purchase."
All are free-standing designs, but the company plans more and more cross-coordination with the company's other accessory lines — such as table linens, decorative pillows and shower curtains — over time. There will also be some matching to bedding lines when appropriate and requested.
Raab's stint at HFI is part time. She also operates her own interior design business, JPR Custom Interiors in Long Island, N.Y.
We would love your feedback!
