Rizzy Rug Preps Area Rugs from India Facility

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 11/3/2008 12:00:00 AM

Calhoun, Ga. —Come January, the extensive line of area rugs by Rizzy Rugs will include new heat-set polypropylene collections and new 100% wool area rugs, all of them machine-made by the company in its own facilities in India.

Mark Ferullo, vp, said Rizzy recently installed new looms to make these products at its India plant, and the new rugs are already in production, to be ready soon for shipping. The facility is in the New Delhi area rather than the traditional Indian rug-making centers of Jaipur and Veranase.

The new offerings comprise polypropylene rugs that will be available in three different heat-set qualities, as well as two different qualities of wool rugs.

While Ferullo declined to offer specific pricing for these items citing competitive reasons, he said the synthetic styles will start at promotional prices and the wool rugs will hit moderate to “better” retail brackets.

Designs will span casual, contemporary and traditional in each of the five collections. Ferullo told HTT that this new assortment complements the company's core line of $199 and higher tufted models, as well as hand-knotted area rugs that retail for as much as $2,000, all of which Rizzy manufactures.

“These rugs allow us to offer a variety of price points and become a bigger vendor to our current customers and a new vendor with new customers,” he said.
