Women of the Trade calendar going retro for charity

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 4/28/2006 12:18:00 PM

High Point, N.C. – The second annual home furnishings calendar will focus on women luminaries of the retail, decorative fabric and furniture industry, called Women of the Trade.

The calendar, to be launched at the October International Home Furnishings Market, will depict the women in makeup and poses inspired by the 1930s and ’40s, and the photography will be in black and white reminiscent of the era, said Ray McKinnon, chairman of Basbleu, the organization sponsoring the project.

Participating in the calendar project are Claire Goldhagen, Robb & Stucky, Fort Myers, Fla.; Britt Albright, Henredon Furniture; Caroline Hipple, Storehouse, Atlanta; Jene Hall, Aspenhome; Ellen Gefen, Gefen Productions; Jennifer White, Valdese Weavers; Michele McCreary, McCreary Modern; Elaine Bolick, Paladin Furniture; Jackie Hirschhaut, American Furniture Alliance; Donna Kaiser, Donna Kaiser Designs; and Connie Post, Connie Post Companies.

Sales of last year’s Men of the Cloth raised more than $60,000 for the organization that assists families in and outside of the textiles and furniture industry, McKinnon stated.
